Sarah Wilson, 2015

Sarah Wilson Wins 2015 AICA Honorary Award for Distinguished Contribution to Art Criticism. XLVIII AICA International Congress London 2015, 29 October 2015.

The AICA Honorary Award for Distinguished Contribution to Art Criticism is being given this year to art historian, critic, and curator Sarah Wilson. A professor of modern and contemporary art at the Courtauld Institute in London, Wilson has curated shows like “Paris, Capital of the Arts, 1900–1968,” at the Royal Academy in London and the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao, and “Pierre Klossowski and the Vicious Circle,” which appeared at Whitechapel Art Gallery. She has written about Sheila Hicks, Germaine Richier, Judit Riegl, and Niki de Saint Phalle, among others.

The president of the association, Marek Bartelik, notes: “Professor Sarah Wilson’s contribution to an international, interdisciplinary perspective is exceptional. She has written about many international artists, published in many languages, often after making research visits to remote places around the world.”

Previous recipients of the award include Ticio Escobar, Lee Yil, Annemarie Monteil, and Thomas Strauss.
